This was one of those projects that once I saw it I said, “Duuuuhhhhh, why didn’t I think of that?!” This is such a simple little project but so cute and a perfect way to brighten your notebooks, cookbooks or office binders. I saw it first over at lacasadegliantuche, which happens to be all in Italian. My Italian is limited to tiramisu, Parmigiano-Reggiano & biscotti. Fortunately, the project really is self explanatory. You just need a little glue!
To be more precise, you’ll need a little glue, some thin ribbon or fabric strips (roughly 2 inches long) and some jumbo paperclips. I found that although the ones made from fabric strips are super cute, they are a tiny bit flimsier than the ones made with ribbon so I prefer the ones made of ribbon. Use whatever puts a smile on your face, I won’t tell. At any rate, there are a variety of ways to cut the ends, like I’ve shown above. Each have a slightly different finish and are equally cute.
Lightly coat the “inside” of the ribbon and thread through the top end of your paperclip. Make sure you get the right end of the paperclip! You want your “flag” to pop out the top of whatever you’ve clipped it to.
I found it easiest to match up the ends, then lightly squish the rest of the ribbon together, sealing it up. Also give it a light tug and squish onto the end of the paperclip to make sure it gets glued down. Set aside to dry for a few minutes. That’s it! Move on to the next one and soon you will have loads of pretty little clips.
I just love them, they really add some creative “umph” to a boring old notebook.
I have a whole stack of them ready and it only took about 1/2 hour. Can’t wait to use them!!
