31 Days of the Simple Things-Day 18: Pretty Paper

I am a sucker for pretty paper: tissue paper, cardstock, scrapbook paper, wallpaper, imported paper, fancy paper napkins, gift bags, wrapping paper,  I love it all.  It is one of my guilty pleasures, in fact.  I will walk into a scrapbook store and browse the hundreds of pretty papers for about 1/2 hour then then pick out a few pieces to take home and keep in my “stash”.  If you buy a lot of them they can get pricey but I’m really good at watching for the sales and it is rare that I don’t have a 40% coupon from Michaels so it’s a pretty cheap way to put a smile on my face.

I also like to take that “stash” and find new uses for all those pretty papers.  I will make tags for gifts or wrap packages with a band of those gorgeous patterns.  I use a lot of music paper on my canvases and I like to Mod Podge patterned tissue paper over canvases as well.  I save the scraps, too.  I use the little bits as tags or tabs or just collage a bunch of them down in my art journals.

One of my favorite “simple things”!

  1. You know I’m right there with you on this one girl. Isn’t it sad how a 20 cent patterned paper can make your heart happy? I guess if you’re my hubby, you’re happy that’s all it costs ;)
